Robert H. Buffington (Buff)

Robert, 72, passed away on August 13, 2019, following a short battle with cancer. Bob was born on March 7, 1947, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He spent most of his life in Colorado, graduating high school in 1964 from Rush, CO.

Bob was a veteran, serving in the Army in Europe on a special assignment. In 1969, he joined the Colorado Springs Fire Department. While part of the department, he was one of the first officers to form the Arson Investigation Team and was a graduate of the Police Academy.

In 1985, he left the Fire Department to start his own company, Rampart Investigations, investigating fires for insurance companies. Bob sold his business to Phoenix Investigations in 2007. Bob was qualified as an expert in all aspects of fire investigation in US District Court and many of other District and County courts in several states.

Bob married Debbie Mitchell on October 14, 1989. They moved to Sun City, Arizona in 2009, where Bob continued to work for Phoenix Investigations until his retirement in 2016. Bob returned to work in 2018, as a Compliance Officer for the Sun City Homeowners Association.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie; daughter, Jacki Buffington Reider (Steve); stepson, William Mitchell; sisters, Sandy Burmester (Doug) and Corinne Buffington; brother, John Buffington (Terry); grandchildren: Graci, Megan, and Nick Reider, Connor Mitchell and nephew Sam Buffington.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on October 18, 2019 at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona with a celebration of life following at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church in Sun City, Arizona.
