The city of Peoria will be closing roads in Old Town Peoria for Peoria’s Old Town Holiday Festival, featuring Second Saturdays activities, Dec. 11. from 5 to 9 p.m.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Dec. 11, Washington and Jefferson streets from 83rd to 84th avenues and the corner of 83rd Avenue from Washington Street to Madison Street will be closed.
The city is initiating road closures as late as possible to minimize the inconvenience to local residents and drivers while creating a safe and timely traffic egress from the event. Limited parking will be available in Old Town Peoria so attendees are encouraged to park in the two parking garages at Peoria City Hall, located at 8401 W. Monroe Street.
Old Town Holiday Festival attendees can stroll through the historic streets of Old Town Peoria, between Peoria and Grand avenues, with sweaters and hot cocoa and experience live entertainment and festivities. Included in the festival will be figure skating performances, hayrides, horse-drawn carriages, high school choirs from Peoria, local merchants and vendors, a gingerbread house display, holiday photo opportunities, live performances from local musicians and dancers, and many food trucks. The highlights of the evening will be a tree lighting ceremony in Osuna Park and a special appearance from Santa Claus.
