Richard A. Schuenke

Richard, 87 years old, passed away December 2, 2020 in Sun City West, Arizona of heart disease. He was born June 9, 1933, the 8th child of Charles and Clara Schuenke in Faribault, Minnesota.
 He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years Elaine J. Schuenke of Sun City West, Arizona and daughters Roxanne E. (Gary) Portnoy of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Germaine L. Schuenke of Goodyear, Arizona, grandchildren Elysia (Jacob) Gerber, Jessica (Avani) Avanidhar, Misty Richardson, and Brian (Erica) Richardson, and 6 great-grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by daughter Charlet D. Richardson.
Richard served 2 years in the United States Navy from 1955 through 1957.
He started his career working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1952 and retired after 33 years of service. He went on to become Vice President of Operations for Honolulu Cellular in Hawaii, and was responsible for installing and maintaining the first cellular phone towers in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since retiring from Honolulu Cellular, he volunteered more than 20 years as Maintenance Manager at the Metal Shop in Sun City West, Arizona.
He is loved dearly by family and friends and will be missed. Funeral plans are pending.
