Redistricting Commission schedules public hearings on first set of grid maps

Since it approved the initial maps Monday for Arizona’s redistricting process, the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission has announced public hearing sessions where Arizonans can view the maps and make comments.

People attending one of the in-person sessions at the main and satellite locations will have the opportunity to speak and give public comments on the grid maps. They can also complete their mapping comments online, before the public meetings, at redistricting-irc-az.hub.arcgis.com.

There will be an opportunity to observe each meeting on live streaming and that information will be listed on the website irc.az.gov.

Here are the in-person public meeting sessions:

Tuesday, Sept. 21, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Main location: Red Mountain Multigenerational Center 7550E. Adobe St., Mesa

Satellite locations: Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive, Yuma, and Navajo Nation Training Center (limit 25 participants onsite, masks required) Morgan Blvd., Bldg. No. 2740, Window Rock

Thursday, Sept. 23, noon

Main location: Scottsdale Center for the Arts, 7380 E. 2nd St., Scottsdale

Satellite locations: Radisson Hotel, 777 N. Pinal Ave., Casa Grande

Saturday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m.

Main location: Desert Willow Conference Center, 4340 E. Cotton Center Blvd., Phoenix
