Goodyear police are searching for a 72-year-old man who disappeared from Abrazo West Campus early Wednesday, and is considered a missing and endangered adult.

Percy Mercado was transported to Abrazo in an ambulance but disappeared from the hospital under “unexplained circumstances,” Jan. 12 sometime before or around 4:42 a.m. police said.

Mercado has been diagnosed with dementia and asthma. For his respiratory condition, he uses daily nebulizer treatments, according to police. He also takes daily medication to manage high blood pressure, and police said that he is not in possession of his medication, phone, debit card or car keys.

Mercado was last seen in Phoenix at Central and Jones avenues around 8 a.m. wearing a red and black plaid shirt with a black hoodie, grey cargo-style pants or sweatpants and white shoes.

Mercado was born on Nov. 9, 1949. He’s  5-foot-11 and weighs 180 pounds with grey hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of a boot on both shoulders.

Anyone with information related to the case should immediately call the Goodyear Police Department at 623-932-1220 or email berickson@goodyearaz.gov.
