Desert Vista Elementary School, 3701 E. Broadway Ave. in Apache Junction, held a wonderful Veterans Day ceremony the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 10.

Veterans and community members were invited.

Former Desert Vista Elementary School and Apache Junction High School student Roman Rozell, a Green Beret, spoke, and student council president Aiden Baker recited the poem, “We Remember Them,” as other student council members put yellow roses on a chair to remember and honor the veterans who no longer are with us.

Editor’s note: Scott Bordow is Apache Junction Unified School District’s director of communications and community engagement.
