A 16-year-old died Monday afternoon when an off-road vehicle rolled over, killing him and injuring another teen, Surprise police said.

The rollover occurred near 179th Avenue and Deer Valley Road.

Emergency crews responded to the crash about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, and found the “off-road, side-by-side style vehicle,” police said.

A 16-year-old girl was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said Tuesday, adding an investigation is taking place to determine the cause of the rollover.
