Number of new weekly coronavirus cases in Goodyear ticks upward after holding steady

Pfizer vaccines now available to those ages 12 to 15

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 77 new weekly coronavirus cases in Goodyear’s 85338 and 85395 ZIP codes over the week ending Friday, May 14, up 19 over the 58 new weekly cases reported last Friday.

That brings the overall tally of cases in Goodyear to 11,565.

Vaccinations

Each Wednesday, the county updates the number of residents vaccinated, and the percentage of residents vaccinated by ZIP code at maricopa.gov/5671/Public-Vaccine-Data.
As of May 12, Maricopa County health officials reported that more than 40% of all residents and 50% of residents 15 and older had received at least one dose, and 46% of doses administered completed that resident’s COVID-19 vaccine series.

On Thursday, those ages 12 to 15 became eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, which is expected to increase the demand for vaccinations. Numbers should be reflected in next week's data.

According to the website, 3,102,171 vaccine doses had been administered in Maricopa County. Of those, 1,649,750 were first dose, 1,431,898 were second dose and 20,523 were unknown.

In Goodyear 85395, 65.2% of the eligible population had received their first dose and 55.8% had received their second dose. In Goodyear 85338, 56.5% of the eligible population had received their first dose and 46.1% had received their second dose.
