Posted
Nancy Sue Hawley passed away on November 16, 2022 at the age of 75 due to the effects of dementia. She was born July 10, 1947 to parents, William and Bertha (Garner) Hawley. She married Martin J. Meade on June 14, 1978. Nancy grew up in Independence, MO. She received her post-graduate degrees, including a Doctorate in Psychology, from the University of Missouri. She served as a psychology professor at Ottawa University in Kansas and later as a counselor in private practice in Liberty, MO. She and Marty retired to Sun City West, AZ in 1995. They were married for 35 years before he passed away in 2013. Although reluctant to leave her circle of friends in SCW, Nancy subsequently moved to McKinney, TX in 2020 to be closer to her family. In addition to her husband, Nancy’s parents also pre-deceased her. She is survived by her brother, Rex Hawley (Gayle) and five step-children: Therese Lindsay (John Lindsay), Eileen Shaw (Kelly Clark), Laura Meade (Bill Werner), Regina Meade, James Meade (Danielle Huntsberger), 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family wants to thank all of Nancy’s friends in AZ and TX, the staff at Hidden Springs of McKinney, and the team at LoveWell Hospice, for their love and care during her illness. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
