Mitzner: Just ‘think about' preventing flu and coronavirus delta variant

Posted

Time to think about getting your flu shot. It may be early for some of us, but nothing is normal these days.

  1. Flu shot helps prevent flu and helps control effects of getting pneumonia and other respiratory problems.

  2. Flu shot for 2020-21 seemed to improve the effects of the COVID shots and helped reduce symptoms of COVID. There is no guarantee that the flue shot for 2021-22 will work the same again this year. But I like to cover my bets.

  3. There will be a COVID-delta booster shot in our future. Some of us do not handle lots of medications and shots well. So, I am getting my flu shot now thinking I want it working in my body before I get another COVID shot.

  4. Think about getting a COVID blood test. It’s good proof if you travel that you are not sick; and, if you are like me, you may find out that you already had COVID, and did not know it and your body’s immune system has COVID antibodies (nice to think you are bullet proof). Insurance is happy to pay for it. Medical people don’t turn away any paying customers.

  5. Use your head and think. We all get a reformulated flu shot every year and no one gets crazy. So, why gets nuts-o about a reformulated COVID-delta shot? We all get a tetanus booster shot every few years. No one gets crazy.

You may get shingles shots: reality is the cost of the shots is less than one doctor’s office visit and medication if you get the shingles.

Again: Think ... don’t let the TV make you stupid. TV warns everyone about toilet paper shortages, so you go out and buy it.

Did COVID scare the crap out of you or anyone else you know?
