I don’t think ‘cat tracks’ at Thunderbird and 105th would cure the problem that Pam Schwartz experienced.
Some people know how to turn at an intersection, and some don’t. It may be an education problem but difficulty in reaching the offenders probably makes it too impractical.
If ‘cat tracks’ could cure the problem of people cutting corners, it might be worthwhile. If such was the case, ‘cat tracks’ should be placed on every intersection everywhere, not just at Thunderbird and 105th.
To my knowledge, they are currently used primarily on dual turn lanes to more clearly the parallel lanes.
The electrical boxes are a slight bother, not a traffic hazard, in my opinion. The picture in the paper attempted to portray them as a real visual blockage.
A driver doesn’t encounter such a view unless they are the second or third car in a left turn lane on eastbound Thunderbird to turn onto 105th. By the time they can turn, the view is clear.
From other parts of the intersection, it isn’t a visual blockage at all.
