Embry Women’s Health, a Mesa-based OB/GYN and women’s health group, is doing its part to help the community by offering a COVID-19 testing site at Mesa Community College.
In total, Embry houses six testing sites with four in the East Valley. The site at Mesa Community College, 1833 W. Southern Ave., is a 24/7 site that offers drive-thru tests. Those tested can expect results within three to five business days.
Along with the MCC site, Embry Women’s Health is conducting testing at:
Embry Women’s Health, 2204 S. Dobson Road in Mesa;
Chandler-Gilbert Community College, 2626 E. Pecos Road in Gilbert;
Estrella Mountain Community College, 3000 N. Dysart Road in Avondale;
Rio Salado across from the Tempe Marketplace, 1803 E. Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe; and
Watts Family Maryvale YMCA, 3825 N. 67th Ave. in Phoenix.
The site near the Tempe Marketplace is the other 24/7 site.
Each test is a diagnostic test to see if a patient has the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.
Embry Women’s Health is assuring people their tests can be trusted and are encouraging people to use the service.
“We are an established medical practice. We have four excellent providers with over 110 years of combined experience,” Embry’s website states. “This is not a scam. You can see actual validation that we are established in the community and reputable.”
Tests are free of charge but patrons will still need to provide insurance documentation. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act required health plans to cover testing to diagnose COVID-19. For those without insurance, a federal program will reimburse the costs.
The sites are by appointment and those registered can expect to get a nasal or oral swab. Embry Women’s Health website says nasal swabs are the primary practice but the sites can collect via an oral swab.
Embry Women’s Health is working with four labs at this time: LabCorp, Bio-Reference, ProPath and Northwest Pathology. The sites were sending their samples to Sonora Quest as well but their website says they no longer do.
Embry Health has been expanding its reach over the course of the pandemic. On July 1, Mesa Community College was opened as the third site for COVID-19 testing. Embry Health has stated it hopes to continue adding sites.
As for MCC, Interim Executive Vice President of Administrative Services Brad Kendrex said providing a facility for these testing services is important to him.
“Our commitment to serving our students and our community remains constant during these times of change,” said Brad Kendrex, MCC Interim Executive Vice President of Administrative Services. “We are pleased to be able to serve as a COVID-19 testing site for our community and look forward to inviting our neighbors back to our campuses when it is safe to do so.”

Patrons with insurance will need to provide their member ID, group number and a physical copy of their insurance card. For uninsured patrons, they must provide a state ID, driver’s license or social security number,
