Mellon family’s McDonald’s restaurants have raised $135,200 since 2009

Goodyear and Litchfield Park McDonald’s restaurants raised more than $7,900 for local schools during their annual McTeacher’s Night Challenge in February.

To safely serve the community, the McTeacher’s Night was a drive-thru and mobile ordering only event, with a portion of the sales during the two-hour period benefiting each school.

Twenty-one elementary and middle schools participated in the Southwest Valley McTeacher’s Night Challenge including: Centerra Mirage, Dreaming Summit, Desert Thunder, Western Sky, Westar, Las Brisas Academy, Michael Anderson, Estrella Vista Stem Academy, Rancho Santa Fe, Litchfield Elementary, Eliseo Felix, Wildflower, Rainbow Valley, Corte Sierra, Luke, Copper Trails, Estrella Mountain, Desert Star, Mabel Padgett, Barbara B. Robey and Lattie Coor.

Copper Trails placed first in the challenge for the second consecutive year, receiving an additional $1,000 donation for a total of $1,424.97.

Las Brisas Academy placed second, receiving an additional $500 donation for a total of $878.54, and Desert Thunder placed third, receiving an additional $250 donation for a total of $622.86.

Since 2009, the McDonald’s restaurants owned by the Mellon family, have raised $135,200 for Southwest Valley schools.

“We were delighted to host a safe fundraising opportunity with drive-thru and mobile ordering to help our local schools raise money, especially during this challenging time of the pandemic,” said Darian Mellon, McDonald’s owner. “Our family takes great pride as local business owners in giving back to our community.”
