Marilynn Mae Burr

Marilynn Legge Burr passed away peacefully August 27, 2022 at age 84. For the last few years, she struggled with dementia and Primary Progressive Aphasia, but her family now rejoices in the knowledge that she is dancing and singing with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Marilynn was born in 1937 to Agnes and Byron Legge. She grew up in Spokane, WA, attending West Valley High. After graduating from Central Washington in 1959 with Music and Education degrees, she moved to West Seattle where she taught elementary school. She raised her family in Seattle and they moved to Glendale, AZ in 1976 to be closer to her family, where she continued teaching music and 2nd Grade at Heritage Elementary until her retirement in 1997. Her passion was teaching the kids to read. Retirement in Sun City West, AZ is where Marilynn shined – She loved to perform with the Rhythm Tappers and Jazzy Poms as well as The Westernaires in the many variety shows and parades over the years. She was also an avid bowler, golfer, pickleballer and tennis player. God, family and friends were paramount in Marilynn’s life. She cherished her memories and time spent in the company of family and friends. She will be missed by so many people and remembered for her beautiful voice, kindness, generosity and her brilliant smile. Marilynn is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Herman and Leroy (Hank) and Sister-in-Law, Gretchen. She is loved and honored by her sister Sharon (Tom) and children Shawna (Bruce) and Todd (Jane) and her 3 most cherished grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 19, 2022 at 9:00AM at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel, in Sun City West, Arizona. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Marilynn’s name to the National Aphasia Association.
