Man dies after Chandler shooting, woman in critical condition

Posted

A 19-year-old man has died following a shooting Wednesday in Chandler, police said.

Police announced Thursday morning that the man died Wednesday night, Nov. 9, and a second victim, a 17-year-old woman, remains in a hospital in critical condition after the shooting near Palm Lane and Pecos Road.

A suspect, Korey William Sandusky Jr, 27, has been booked into Maricopa County Jail for aggravated assault, first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, police said, adding the charges stem from a second crime scene, where, they said, Sandusky forced his way into a home near Hartford and Fairview streets.

Additional charges are expected to be filed against Sandusky, according to authorities.

A second person, a 28-year-old man, was jailed on a misdemeanor warrant as police continue to investigate his role in the incident.

Police said they do not have information on what led to the shooting and are not identifying the victims during the investigation.

Police ask anyone who heard or saw anything related to the shooting to contact the department at 480-782-4130.
