Lux: Questions ‘packed’ high court

Posted

In response to Rich Andrews letter (“Calls for confirmation for Barrett,” Daily Independent, Oct. 22, 2020), you believe Congress electing, or more accurately placing, Judge Barrett on the Supreme Court will ensure that the president has a “decidedly conservative bent for generations to come.”

So, instead of having the entire Congress ensure that there’s a judge that’s impartial enough to satisfy both parties, you’d prefer one that caters to only one political party? Really?

This means you will be happy with a Supreme Court that is no longer impartial and represents the law, rather than one of the branches of government, namely the current president.

Works well, as long as the president is one you like, and the Supreme Court is packed with those who only consider your views.

Will you be happy if the court is packed with judges against your views? Packed with biased judges?

Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do, never seemed more appropriate!
