Mesa residents are invited to participate in the “Love Your City Little Library Raffle” through Jan. 19.
One winner will be chosen at random from each of the six Mesa City Council districts, according to a release.
The colorful little libraries were painted by volunteers during Mesa’s 2019 Love Your City Service Day. To participate in the raffle, go to mesaaz.gov/littlelibraries. Winners must be willing to install the little libraries at the address submitted on the raffle form within Mesa and meet requirements set forth by the Mesa Little Library program.
In order to share the benefit of little libraries with as many Mesa neighborhoods as possible, one will not be provided if there is already one installed on the same street or nearby. Materials required to complete installation, including the post, are not provided.
The city launched the Mesa Little Libraries Program in July 2018 to inspire a love of reading through book exchanges and to foster connections in neighborhoods. This program was developed through the Imagine Mesa Initiative and is modeled after the national Little Free Libraries program with permission from Little Free Library LTD, according to the release.
A Little Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. More information is available at mesaaz.gov/littlelibraries.
