James Loel Hines

James, 81, had a long and successful Medical Career. He served as a Flight Surgeon and Captain in the Airforce. When he left the Airforce, he went into private practice.

He died March 6th in Phoenix with his daughter Blake holding his hand and his loving wife nearby.

He was born on March 2, 1939 in Kansas City, MO to Mr. Charles Penn Hines and Mrs. Marye Carter Hines.

He received his BS from University of Oklahoma; MD from the Louisiana State University, Research at L.S.U Dept. of Surgery, specialized in Plastic Surgery at University of Arizona.

He performed research and was published for his extensive research in burn wounds and Sepsis. He was licensed to practice medicine in New Orleans, LA, Tulsa, OK, San Bernardino, CA, Bellingham, WA. He retired in Bellingham WA, 2000 specializing in plastic and hand surgery.

Mr. Hines was kind gentleman, soft spoken to all with sound advice. His love and adventure took him across the world where he found friendship in all he met. He revisited his Captain title by spending many of his summers discovering the last frontier waters of Alaska. His passion of the discoveries, fishing, crabbing and exploring were shared with many of his friends and family aboard the MV Journey.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Reye Hines of 30 years and her children Teri Sahm, Danielle Beck, Jim Harris and his children Taren Hines Atkins, Blake Loel Hines, Ryan Gibson, Randy Gibson; and his grandchildren Olivia, Jamie, Layel.

A Celebration of his Life with be held in Bellingham, WA on May 9, 2020.
