I am proud to endorse Rep. David Schweikert to represent Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. During my time as president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry, I have seen firsthand the hard work and dedication David has put into our community by promoting legislation to provide opportunity and economic security for everyone in Arizona.
As an influential member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee, David has worked to update our tax laws to support hardworking Arizonans, create free and fair trade agreements to grow our economy, and is working to ensure Social Security and Medicare are protected for seniors.
Among his accomplishments, David was instrumental in passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, legislation that helped create a 50-year record low unemployment rate, grow wages for minorities, women and youth, as well as add more than 5 million jobs to our labor force. The bill has proven to be a game-changer, ensuring our nation is more competitive and more welcoming to job creators.
In addition to passing the pro-growth tax cuts, David worked hand in hand with the Arizona business community to pass the United States, Mexico, Canada Agreement, a 21st century trade deal to rebalance and modernize our trade with neighbors Mexico and Canada.
It was David who helped craft the elements of USMCA that made it easier for small businesses in our country to reach new customers in Mexico and Canada. Now that the USMCA is ratified, we can anticipate growing the 228,000 Arizona jobs already attributable to trade with our North American neighbors.
David’s leadership has been most on display during the pandemic, where he’s helped support the Paycheck Protection Program, a lifeline for businesses across Arizona whose operations have been terribly disrupted. This program saved more than 51 million jobs and helped thousands of businesses keep their doors open.
Too many of our businesses are still hurting, and we will need leaders in Congress like David to ensure we can continue to grow and support our local economies.
The last several months have tested the country’s mettle like no other time in our history. We need leadership in Washington focused on bringing us back to the red-hot pre-pandemic economy we had in 2018 and 2019. The leader we need is Rep. Schweikert, a dedicated public servant, always focused on supporting hardworking Arizonans and maintaining our welcoming, business-friendly environment.
David’s focus on promoting policies that enhance the vitality of Arizona and the nation’s economy is needed now more than ever.
