Ground Floor Artists ramps up in January

Ground Floor Artists, 13343 W. Foxfire Drive, Suite 3, features regular classes in different art forms, including the following mid-January classes:

• Introduction to Portrait Sculpture led by instructor Bernie Arum will be taught in six class sessions, on Tuesday and Thursday for three straight weeks.

This month, classes will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 12, Jan. 14, Jan. 19, Jan. 21, Jan. 26 and Jan. 28. Classes are only available for a maximum eight people.

Total cost is $145 includes for the sessions, clay and use of all tools and kiln fees.

Students will learn step by step method to create the human form out of water based clay, using large storyboard photos as your model. All levels of abilities from beginners to experienced are welcome.

• Wheeling With Linda is the third Fridays of each month. The next class is from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 15. Cost is $40 and includes one night of a semi-private lesson with all supplies included. Learn the basics of throwing on a potters’ wheel. There is space only for three people.

• Friday Night Art Madness is the third Friday of each month. The January event is from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 15. Learn how to use soft pastels, including use of two pastel papers and pastels. Cost is $20 and all proceeds benefit Ground Floor art programs. The instructor is Kelley Smith.
