Goodyear breaks 13,000 total COVID cases since start of pandemic

ADHS reported 258 new cases this week

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 258 new COVID cases in Goodyear area codes this week, bringing the total number of cases to 13,058.  

Last week, 274 new cases were reported in Goodyear between July 30, and Aug. 6, according to ADHS data.

Daily Goodyear case numbers are calculated by adding together the ADHS reported case numbers in ZIP codes 85338 and  85395.  

Over 90% of cases were mapped to the address of the patient's residence.

Vaccinations

Each week, the county updates the number of residents vaccinated, and the percentage of residents vaccinated by ZIP code at maricopa.gov/5671/Public-Vaccine-Data.

In Goodyear ZIP code 85395, about 67.1% of the eligible population have received their first dose and 60.4% have received their second or final dose.

In Goodyear ZIP code 85338, about 62% of the eligible population have received their first dose and 54.7% have received their second or final dose.

Vaccination rates have increased slightly during the past week in both Goodyears ZIP codes.

According ADHS, 4,095,514 vaccine doses had been administered to Maricopa County residents as of Aug. 10.

State and county-wide numbers

While Arizona COVID-19 death rates have hovered around 2% since late May, the rate of positive tests have increased dramatically in the last month, from 6.71% on July 11, to 12.99 on Aug. 11, according to Mayo Clinic data.

Maricopa County has seen 604,387 total cases since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 14,536 cases since last Friday. 

Percent positivity has dropped slightly to 15% on Aug. 13. That is down from 16% positivity reported on Aug. 6, but still considered “high transmission” by county health officials.

Data collected by the county as of Aug. 13 show 13,837.2 positive cases per 100,000.

School District COVID-19 numbers

There at 76 reported COVID cases at the Agua Fria Union High School District, as of Friday Aug. 13 at 10:30 a.m.

There are 56 reported cases of students, and 20 reported cases of staff members.

  • Desert Edge: 20 total cases
  • Canyon View: 16 total cases
  • Verrado: 15 total cases
  • Millennium: 12 total cases
  • Agua Fria: 9 total cases
  • Department site: 2 total cases

Two additional reported COVID cases are not yet attributed to any school or district site.

Litchfield Park Elementary School District has not updated their COVID data since Friday, Aug. 6, when the district reported 22 positive cases of COVID and 114 exposures to COVID. This page will be updated when COVID-19 data is reported. Access the full dashboard here.
