The city of Glendale’s “Hook a Kid on Fishing” clinic is coming this weekend.

Taking place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 15, for the first time in the event’s history it will be hosted at Heroes Regional Park Lake, 8300 W. Bethany Home Road, which opened this past January. Previously the event has been held at Bonsall Park.

“We are excited for the opportunity to host this great community event at Heroes Regional Park Lake,” Glendale’s Senior Recreation Coordinator Manuel Padia shared in a news release. “We will have staff available to work with the kids on how to properly set up fishing lines and to answer any other questions they may have.”

The Glendale recreation division invites children of all ages and their families out for a fun-filled morning. The first 100 kids ages 10 through 17 will take home a free fishing license. Join for prize drawings, free food, water, snacks and more.

The Arizona Game & Fish Department will provide loaner fishing poles.

No preregistration is required. The next free clinic in April at Bonsall Park, 5840 W. Bethany Home Road.
