A man is in custody in connection to a kidnapping and sexual assault case that occurred in late October.

On  Oct. 30, the Glendale Police Department responded to the area of 67th and Maryland avenues, where an 18-year-old woman reported she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted. She also claimed the suspect attempted to kill her more than once. The victim told officers she was walking down the street with her puppy when the suspect drove up to her quickly and stunned her with his car door.

Police said the victim tried to scream and fight the suspect off. The suspect reportedly threatened her to stop screaming or he would cut her with a knife. When she continued to fight, the suspect cut the victim.

After the victim thought she was going to die, the suspect forced her into his vehicle and took her to another location where he sexually assaulted her, police said. The suspect then attempted to kill her two more times. However, the victim was able to run away from the suspect and found someone to call 911.

The suspect took the victim’s personal belongings, including her puppy.

According to court documents, between Nov. 1 and 2, Glendale police responded to three separate locations for three separate armed robberies. The first occurred at a convenience store near 51st and Orangewood avenues, where a male suspect was dressed in a Halloween costume. The second was at a motel near 59th and Glendale avenues, where the suspect wore a surgical style mask. The third occurred at a gas station near 51st and Olive avenues, where the suspect wore a Halloween hockey mask. In each case, police said the suspect was likely armed with a semi-auto handgun and demanded money from each clerk.

Police said the suspect and his vehicle matched the description of the suspect from the attempted murder, sexual assault and robbery.

Detectives from the Special Victims Unit and Violent Crimes Unit worked together and developed probable cause to arrest Jer’Marion Moses Imasuku, 32, on Nov. 6.

According to court documents, police had responded to his residence the day before for a family fight. However, Mr. Imasuku had fled in a vehicle, driving into oncoming traffic and running red lights.

Police were able to recontact him at his residence and arrested him.

Mr. Imasuku was jailed in lieu of an $80,000 cash-only bond on four counts of armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault, one count of violent sexual assault, one count of kidnapping, three counts of unlawful imprisonment, one count of unlawful flight from law enforcement, and four counts of theft.

Meanwhile, Glendale police are hoping the victim’s puppy, 8-week old Kiki, can be found.

“We are hoping to help the brave young survivor by reuniting her with her beloved pet and assist in her recovery journey,” Glendale police stated on social media.
