Free summer meals are available throughout the month at Glendale Elementary School District campuses.
The Food & Nutrition Summer Food Program will provide breakfast and lunch for children age 18 and under now through Thursday, June 30.
The campuses providing the meals, and the times, are here:
- Glenn F. Burton, 4801 W. Maryland Ave. Breakfast: 8:15-9:15 a.m., lunch noon-1 p.m.
- Sunset Vista, 7775 W. Orangewood Ave. Breakfast: 7:15-8:15 a.m., lunch 11 a.m.-noon.
- Glendale Landmark, 5730 W. Myrtle Ave. Breakfast: 8:15-9:15 a.m., lunch noon-1 p.m.
- Glendale American, 8530 N. 55th Ave. Breakfast: 8:15-9:15 a.m., lunch noon-1 p.m.
- Desert Spirit, 7355 W. Orangewood Ave. Breakfast: 7:15-8:15 a.m., lunch 11 a.m.-noon
- Harold W. Smith, 6534 N. 63rd Ave. Breakfast: 7:15-8:15 a.m., lunch 11 a.m.-noon
More than 90 percent of Glendale Elementary School District students are considered to be living in poverty based on the number that qualify for the federal Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program, according to the district.
Students qualify for the program if their family income falls below federal poverty levels. For a family of four, the household income must be below $2,389 per month to qualify for free meals, and $3,400 for reduced-price meals.
