Gilbert hosts Hispanic celebration ¡Viva! on Sept. 30

The town of Gilbert will mark Hispanic Heritage month with ¡Viva! — a celebration of Hispanic heritage and culture on Friday, Sept. 30. 

The free event takes place at the Water Tower Plaza from 6-8:30 p.m. 

Hispanic Heritage month celebrates the contributions and culture of both Hispanic and Latino Americans from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.  

¡Viva! will feature authentic Latin American cuisine, Latinx-owned businesses and a variety of cultural entertainment. 

Authentic Latin American food and beverages will be available at this event. Alcohol and glass containers are prohibited. A variety of Hispanic and Latino owned businesses will be on-site for this event. 

The entertainment schedule includes:  

  • Guitarras Latinas: 6-6:45 p.m. 
  • Instituto De Folklor Mexicano: 7-7:20 p.m. 
  • Desert Sound Mariachi: 7:30-8 p.m. 
  • Ballet Folklorico Amistad: 8:10-8:30 p.m. 

Vendors will be accepting card and cash payments. No ATMs are available on site. The Water Tower Plaza is fully accessible by strollers, wheelchairs and walkers. Leashed pets are allowed at this event, but owners are reminded to pick up after their pets.
