Egon N. Bertelsen

Egon passed away pe- acefully on July 29th after a short illness. He was born in Fjaltring, Denmark on May 5, 1929 to Johanna and Peder Bertelsen.At age 2, he sailed to the United States, entering at Ellis Island and several years later became a United States citizen.Egon served in the National Guard. He spent his working life in the food industry, retiring in 1992 from his position as Meat Sales Manager for Albertson's. He and his wife, Karen, found their forever home in Sun City West.He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Gary Bertelsen of Apple Valley, CA; brother, Harry Andreasen (Shirley) of Rowlett, TX; and step-sons, Stephen Kinchen (Kat) of Portland, OR and Daniel Fillenberg (Erika) of Tucson, AZ; in addition to several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and only recently, a great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by three of his four sons: David, Teddy and Terry. Egon was an avid golfer and a few years ago, the Independent wrote an article on him after he shot two holes-in-one, within a seven-week period. Both were at Stardust Golf Course's 120 yard fifth hole using the same club playing with the same partners. He later had two additional holes-in-one.Egon chose to donate his remains for research.
