Edward Everett (Ev) Griffin


Edward of Apache Junction, passed away peacefully on June 17 at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. Everett was born in Phoenix on July 23, 1932. He had lived in Scottsdale, Christopher Creek and Payson until he moved to Apache Junction nearly a decade ago.
A devoted husband and father who lived out his deep Christian faith, Everett was an active member of First Baptist Church of Apache Junction where he served as a deacon. He was a familiar face at the church doors on Sunday mornings, always ready with a smile and a friendly greeting as he passed out weekly bulletins.
Everett was involved in many activities at Sun Valley Park in Apache Junction, having served three terms on the board of its resident association and as co-chairman of its popular Thursday afternoon Jam Sessions. He was crowned as the Association’s 2019 King, an honored bestowed in recognition of many years of volunteer service to the Sun Valley community.
He also a long time member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, beginning as a troop member where he became an Eagle Scout. It was the great privilege of his life to serve for 20 years as Ranger for the R-C Scout Ranch near Christopher Creek.
Everett was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Ruth (Blakely) Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Apache Junction; three children, Robert Lee, Donna Kathleen and James Monroe. He was also blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021. A luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Memorial donations may be made to Sunshine Acres, 3405 North Higley, Mesa 85215 or by calling 480-832-2540.
