The annual East Valley Veterans Parade returns to its traditional format in downtown Mesa Thursday, Nov. 11. More than 100 parade entries are anticipated, along with aerial demonstrations of vintage aircraft.
This year’s parade theme is “Military Art & Artists” celebrating the many forms of military art used through the years. More information is available at evvp.org.
The parade kick-off program will begin at 10:45 a.m. with remarks from Mesa Mayor John Giles and Grand Marshal Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, followed by the national anthem performed by Jeff Senour and Called to Serve, according to the website.
The parade route begins at Center Street and University Drive, proceeds south on Center Street and west on First Street to Robson.
Parade category entries include commercial, equestrian, animal, honor guard, military organization, musical, nonprofit, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, family and youth. Parade entries must be patriotic, veteran-themed honoring veterans and nonpolitical, the website states.
The East Valley Veterans Day parade is presented and produced by volunteers from the East Valley Veterans Parade Association, a 501(c)(3) charity.
