Country Thunder postponed until 2021

Fans of Country Thunder will have to wait until 2021 after organizers there canceled this year's event.

Country Thunder will return April 8-11, 2021, according to a release Friday, July 24.

“The time has come to look towards the future, and I think it’s going to be incredible,” stated Country Thunder Music Festivals CEO Troy Vollhoffer. “We can’t wait to come back to Florence and kick this thing up a notch. As always, we appreciate our thousands of loyal fans, partners, sponsors, and supporters in Arizona for their patience, loyalty and enthusiasm. It’s been a strange year, but we’re excited to be able to look forward to planning a special experience for the greatest coun-try music fans in America.”

The Country Thunder Arizona 2021 lineup is reset to include some of the biggest names in country music. Luke Combs and Eric Church are at the top of the genre, Dustin Lynch is an elite talent, while Morgan Wallen has established himself as a future headline act, according to the release.

Luke Combs continues to rewrite the country music record books at every turn, the release states. Last week he became the first artist in the 56-year history of Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart whose first two studio albums each logged 25 or more weeks at No. 1.

Mr. Combs’ sophomore album What You See Is What You Get logged its 25th week on top. His 2017 debut, This One’s for You, amassed 50 weeks on top. He surpassed Taylor Swift, whose first two studio albums each logged 24 or more weeks at No. 1.

Eric Church is know to fans in Arizona all too well. Since his first release in 2006, “Chief” has amassed seven top-5 albums (three No. 1s), too many top-ten singles to count and every industry award imaginable, the release states.

Morgan Wallen’s debut album, If I Know Me, yielded three consecutive No. 1 singles— “Up Down,” “Whiskey Glasses,” and “Chasin’ You.” The multi-platinum artist is on fire and will light up the stage with these hits plus more fan favorites including current single “More Than My Hometown,” “This Bar,” and “Heartless.” He’s currently in the studio working on his highly anticipated sophomore album.

Scoring over 2 billion total career streams, Dustin Lynch continues to affirm his place as one of Country’s elite stars, the release states. With seven No. 1 hits, four Top 5 albums, eight certified singles, and tours with the genre’s biggest names — Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Brad Paisley — the Grand Ole Opry member’s latest album TULLAHOMA is out now featuring the chart-topping GOLD singles “Ridin’ Roads” and “Good Girl.”

The supporting cast will be announced as further details become available.

A reminder to 2020 ticket holders: All ticketing options will be automatically honored for the rescheduled 2021 dates — fans do not have to do a thing. Ticket holders will receive further information on Friday, July 31 via email.

Country Thunder Music Festivals has a 17-year history which boasts five other major, multi-day events in North America. The organization also hosts festivals in Florida, Iowa, Saskatchewan, Wisconsin and Alberta.

2021 will only add to the storied history of the desert’s most iconic music festival, the release states.
