Charlotte Louise Mallon

Charlotte, age 104, died at home in Sun City August 29, 2021. She was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa May 14, 1917 to Charles William McFall and Lila Mae Colwell. When she was six they moved to Kent County, Michigan. In 1938 she graduated from Blodgett Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. On December 7, 1941, she resigned her nurse position in Detroit and entered the Army Nurse Corps February 2, 1942. She served in the Pacific Theater and received service ribbons and two decorations. In July 1946 she married Edward J Mallon of New York City, an officer in the US Merchant Marine. They lived forty years in Edison Township, New Jersey where they raised five sons. When Captain Mallon died in 1984, she moved to Washington state, then to Sun City in 1986. She is survived by her sons Michael (Christine), John, Kevin, Edward (Joan), Timothy, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters. Menke Funeral home visitation is September 8 with internment at Cave Creek National Veteran Cemetery at 1 PM; memorial service September 9, 1 PM at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church, Sun City.
