Catholic Charities group hires Surprise executive

Bisko has 20 years fundraising experience

Surprise resident Karen Bisko, a certified fundraising executive with nearly 20 years of experience in development, has been named vice president of philanthropy at Catholic Charities Community Services.

Ms. Bisko most recently was chief development officer at Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale after serving as senior director of development at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Foundationand Barrow Neurological Foundation.

“Karen brings a deep understanding of fundraising based on nearly two decades of experience with some of the nation’s most outstanding nonprofit organizations,” said Catholic Charities President and CEO Paul Mulligan. “We look forward to her leadership as we continue to grow our fundraising efforts.”

Prior to joining Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in 2015,  Ms. Bisko served in various nonprofit leadership positions with Banner Health Foundation, Arizona State University, Benevilla and the American Diabetes Association to name just a few.   

She is active in the Arizona Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Phoenix Planned Giving Round Table.

Ms. Bisko holds a bachelor of science degree in journalism from West Virginia University and major gifts and capital campaigns certifications from the University of Wisconsin’s Association of Healthcare Philanthropy’s Madison Institute.
