Kay, 99, passed away peacefully at Freedom Plaza Memory Care, Peoria, Az., on September 22, 2022, with her nephew John and his wife, Diane, by her side. Kay was born on December 25, 1922. Yes, she was that close to her 100th birthday. Born in Manhattan, New York, she worked as a telephone operator and rose to the position of supervisor, during her 32 yrs of service. Retiring in 1982, she moved from New York to Phoenix, Az. and eventually settled in Sun City in 1984. Needing to keep busy, she entered the real estate workforce and became a million dollar seller. She was proud of the accomplishment. Kay’s pleasures were traveling the country, Europe, cruises and casinos. On a more relaxed note, she enjoyed playing bridge and visiting friends. Kay was an extraordinary woman who was tough as nails, overcame a fractured hip and fractured ankle, all within 2.5 years. She was a fighter for sure. We called her “our little firecracker”. Loved by so many whose lives she touched, whether in independent living, assisted living and memory care, Kay left a piece of her heart. Admired by all, for her strength and vitality. Kay is survived by her nephew, his wife, a great nephew and family, a great niece and family and many longtime friends who were like family. Service is on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Sunland Mortuary Lakeside Chapel, 15826 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, Az. 85351 Gathering 10 am - 11 am Celebration of Life11am-11:45am Committal Service12pm-12:20pm Reception (banquet) to follow in Sunland Funeral Home
