Buy a burger, help a hero: Peoria’s Bubba’s 33 donates $1 for every Patriot Burger sold

Bubba’s 33 in Peoria, Aug. 5-31, 16100 N. Arrowhead Fountain Center Drive, will donate $1 to Homes For Our Troops for every Patriot Burger purchased.

Home For Our Troops is a national charity that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes for post 911 veterans severely injured in the line of duty. The organization has completed more than 295 homes in 42 states with an additional 79 projects currently underway.

“Each year, we celebrate American heroes through Homes For Our Troops,” says Cody Lewein, Managing Partner. “Supporting our military families and being a strong community partner is part of our mission and we’re honored to support this amazing organization.”

Members of Homes For Our Troops built a home in Peoria for Army First Sergeant William “Mike” Leonard and his family in 2013.

Mr. Leonard was on his fourth deployment in the Army when he lost both of his legs in an improvised explosive device blast in Southern Helmand Province, Afghanistan on March 22, 2010.

Since his key ceremony, Mr. Leonard said his home has improved the lives of his family members greatly.

“Homes For Our Troops found us a perfect location that allows us to just live and enjoy our new home to the fullest,” he said on the Homes For Our Troops website.
