PGA golfer Ben Lorenz welcomed as BBB Ethical Athlete Ambassador

Better Business Bureau serving the Pacific Southwest has announced its first ever sponsored professional athlete, PGA golfer Ben Lorenz, serving as its Ethical Athlete Ambassador.

As a two-time PING All-American and two-time All-Big 12 honoree at the University of Oklahoma, Lorenz's collegiate achievements are nothing short of remarkable, according to a news release.

Throughout his career, Lorenz amassed three career victories, placing him fourth in the program's history.

During his senior season, the former Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria graduate, won the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional and The Clerico, alongside a third-place finish at the Puerto Rico Classic. These finishes helped him secure a spot as the No. 13 ranked golfer in the PGA TOUR University rankings, securing fully exempt status on PGA TOUR Americas.

A professional golfer is an ideal ambassador for BBB, as the sport is deeply rooted in ethics, honesty, and integrity—values that align seamlessly with BBB's mission. In golf, players are often their own scorekeepers, making adherence to the rules and a strong moral compass essential to the game. This commitment to ethical behavior on the course matches the BBB's dedication to promoting trust and transparency throughout the community, making this partnership a natural fit.

"We're thrilled to welcome Ben Lorenz to the BBB family as our first sponsored professional athlete," said Matthew Fehling, president/CEO of BBB serving the Pacific Southwest. "This partnership marks a key milestone in our mission to promote the role of ethics in every area of life. Ben’s dedication to integrity, excellence, and community reflects the core values of BBB, and we’re proud to support him on his journey. We look forward to the positive influence he'll bring both on and off the course."

BBB has a long history of supporting athletes through its Ethical Athlete Scholarship. In partnership with the Arizona Interscholastic Association, BBB selects one winner every month from September to February 2025 that exemplifies ethical behavior and positive influence on others. Lorenz has additionally been named BBB’s Ethical Athlete Ambassador as he embodies the values upheld by the BBB Ethical Athlete Scholarship recipients and serves as a role model of integrity.

"I'm incredibly honored to be the first professional athlete sponsored by BBB," Lorenz said. "Their commitment to promoting trust and transparency aligns with my values both as a golfer and an individual. I'm excited to start my professional career with their support and be a great ambassador for them and what the BBB stands for."

Lorenz will be making a special appearance at the upcoming BBB Integrity Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 11, at the Legacy Golf Club in Phoenix. Attendees will have the chance to see the young talent in action while supporting the BBB Foundation for Education and Entreprenuer Leadership.

His entry into the professional golf world marks the beginning of a new chapter, both for him and for BBB, as they extend their support into the realm of professional sports, fostering a partnership grounded in integrity and excellence.
