Avondale police said a woman missing for five days has been found safe.

Around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, Charlotte Marie Brown was located by Phoenix police at a Safeway parking lot near Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard, about 33 miles northeast from where she was last seen in Avondale.

Police said she was found in good condition but was transported to a hospital for precautionary reasons. Her identity was confirmed, and notifications have been made to her family.

Charlotte Marie Brown, 72, was last seen 1:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in the area of 111th Avenue and Indian School Road.

She was visiting a relative’s residence and then left to return to her home in Youngtown.  However, she never returned.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office had checked Ms. Brown’s residence in Youngtown and didn't locate her or her vehicle.

Her son, Ryan Brown, had requested Monday to speak to the media and the public for help in finding her.
