Last month, Assistance League of Phoenix held a fundraising campaign in lieu of an in-person event for the 50th anniversary of the Celebration of Caring, its annual gala.
Assistance League of Phoenix is a non-profit that has been serving children throughout the Phoenix area for nearly 60 years.
Each year, Assistance League of Phoenix serves approximately 9,000 children and this year’s campaign was able to raise $300,000 through sponsorships, donations and a raffle.
In addition to the support received from the community, BHHS Legacy Foundation provided a matching grant of $250,000 to provide clothing packages.
All money raised will provide new school clothing, shoes, hygiene items and books for children grades K-8 living in poverty through the Operation School Bell program.
“Thank you to the community, our sponsors and donors for making this such a huge success,” Aimee Runyon, CEO of Assistance League of Phoenix, stated in the release.
The presenting sponsors for the 50th annual Celebration of Caring were Desert Financial Credit Union, BHHS Legacy Foundation and The Carroll & Marguerite Wheeler Foundation; and the raffle partner was GK Legacy Foundation.
“We added the restaurant raffle component to help support local restaurants who have been struggling this past year due to the pandemic,” Ms. Runyon stated. “Four lucky winners received a $500 gift card to the local restaurant of their choice [and] we were proud to support the Wrigley Mansion, Upward Projects, The Hillstone Group and Steak44.”
