(Submitted photo) Carstens Fine Art Studio & Gallery will celebrate nine new works of art by artist/owner Cyndy Carstens. The party, scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, will be held during the Scottsdale Arts District Gold Palette “Western” ArtWalk. The evening includes live music performed by renowned harpist Jocelyn Obermeyer, light refreshments, and an opportunity to meet the artist. According to the press release, the new paintings emphasize atmosphere, movement and expressive color contrasted with subtle elements. Some pieces by the artist show images made with an oil paint, using graphite powder as the pigment giving the impression of a drawing within the artwork. New oil paintings by Ms. Carstens were “created to inspire hope, dedicated to all who have dealt with, suffer from, are fighting or have survived cancer,” the release said.

“Cancer is personal. It affects each person differently making a single cure unlikely. However, through research and hope possibilities are endless. Hope for the individual and their families is as important as the research itself,” said Ms. Carstens in a prepared statement.

“Hope strengthens our will to continue forward and perhaps one day lead us to a place of peace.” Ms. Carstens has exhibited her work across the country. Her work is represented by UGallery of San Francisco, California; and Curator Engine in Tempe, as well as her own gallery. Her award-winning work is included in private and corporate collections across the U.S. and internationally. She has studied the arts at four universities including Arizona State University, three artist schools and “purposes to be an eternal student.” The release added that she shares her knowledge through workshops and private art lessons.
