Arthur “Gene”/”Art” Eugene Bergstrom

Arthur, 91, passed away at home in Sun City, AZ on August 23, 2019. Gene was born in Devils Lake, ND on March 4, 1928 to Marjorie Jane (Renard) and Arthur William Bergstrom.

He participated as an Eagle Scout and Band trumpeter in high school. He served in the US Army , stationed in Japan following World War II.

Gene married Jeanne Bergstrom, his high school sweetheart, in 1948. Following Business College in Fargo, ND.

Gene joined his father’s business, Lake Chevrolet. Gene and his brother, Bill, became co-owners of Lake Chevrolet serving the Lake Region, ND.

Gene is survived by his wife, Jeanne; their 4 children: Connie Lou Kennedy (and husband Kevin, in Veseli, MN), Cynthia Bergstrom Devlin (and husband, Ed Devlin Santa Fe, NM), David (and wife, Clare) and Robert Bergstron (both in Sun City, AZ); 5 grandchildren: Kara Perez, David Hager, Patrick Devlin, Amanda and Eric Bergstrom; and 3 great-grandchildren, Sofia and Flora Perez, J.R. Hager; numerous nieces and nephews; and his brother, John and sister-in-law, Ornetta; and his sisters-in-law, Anne-Marit Bergstrom and Carol Long (and husband, Roy).

A devoted husband and loving father, Gene lived a life caring for family and friends.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks and Westminister Presbyterian Church in Devils Lake.

In 1984 Gene and Jeanne relocated to Plymouth, MN to be closer to their family nearby. After a long transition between two homes, they settled in Sun City, AZ in 2014.

Gene was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer who also enjoyed building, furniture making and other hobbies.

A Memorial service will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City, AZ at 2:00 P.M. September 21, 2019. Memorial contributions may go to either the Salvation Army or Faith Presbyterian Church, Sun City, AZ.
