The Arizona Oral Cancer Walk Planning committee announces the return of the 11th annual Arizona Oral Cancer Walk. The walk will take place 7-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Phoenix Zoo with the purpose to educate Arizonans on oral cancer prevention, support oral cancer warriors and survivors, and fundraise for research.

The Arizona Oral Cancer Walk is sponsored by the Arizona Academy of General Dentistry and in partnership with the Arizona Dental Foundation, the event involves health booths, children’s activities, oral cancer screenings, a short survivor speaker series, and an Oral Cancer & HPV Education Center.

All proceeds go towards the local Arizona community and its cancer-related initiatives. Price of the ticket includes all-day admission to the Phoenix Zoo. Prices are $30 for adults, $25 for students (with ID), $15 for ages 2-10 and all oral cancer warriors and children younger than 3 can participate for free.

The Arizona Oral Cancer Walk was started by Dr. Terrence Yu and a group of dental students in 2009. With the support of the Arizona Dental Association, the Arizona Academy of General Dentistry and local dental and dental hygiene schools, it has been able to increase awareness about oral, head and neck cancer to the Arizonans from across the state. The 2019 walk raised more than $15,000 with approximately 800 walkers in attendance.
