Walk, jog, run and give back.

The Grand Canyon Conservancy, the nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park, is asking Valley residents to donate to its fundraiser where proceeds will go to help protect and preserve the park.

The event, called the Virtual Trailblazer, encourages residents to donate $25 and pledge to run or walk a specific distance and share their photos on social media with the tag #GCCTrailblazer to get the word out.

In a press release, the group said the event is perfect for those who do not feel safe traveling to stay home and participate in their local outdoor spaces such as neighborhoods and parks.

On April 17, the first day of the event, there is a fee-free day for residents at the Grand Canyon park in honor of National Park Week.

All participants will receive a commemorative Trailblazer t-shirt, and other special prizes will be awarded at various donation levels, the press release said.

Registrants have until Sunday, April 25 to complete their walk, jog, hike, or bike and achieve their fundraising goals.
