A Mesa man battling incurable brain cancer, malignant melanoma and heart disease has won the hearts of his hometown and beyond.

Andrew Kuzyk, 59, was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2022. He also was diagnosed with malignant melanoma for the sixth time.

Glioblastoma is the most aggressive and one of the most lethal forms of brain cancer. The median survival of a person with GBM is 12 months. Without treatment, which may include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, survival is three to six months, according to glioblastomafoundation.org. There is no cure.
