Alleged drug deal leads to shooting in Wittmann

Sheriff's deputies are investigating after two people were shot at in Wittmann and then took themselves to a medical facility in Peoria.

The incident happened around 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 when Peoria police responded to an urgent care clinic near Happy Valley Road and Lake Pleasant Parkway for two possible shooting victims.

Officers learned two adults had been shot at in their vehicle during an alleged drug deal that reportedly occurred within the jurisdiction of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, so the investigation was turned over to that agency.

As MCSO investigated, deputies learned the two adults were not shot and only sustained superficial minor injuries from their vehicle windshield’s glass when it was shot by unknown suspects. Deputies found the shooting scene near 203rd Avenue and Bradley Road in Wittmann.

MCSO continues to investigate.
