ADHS reports 45 new weekly COVID cases in Litchfield Park

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 45 new cases in Litchfield Park, 85340 ZIP code in the week ending in July 23, bringing the total number of cases to 4,146 compared with 4,104 last Friday.

The ZIP code includes the city of Litchfield Park and unincorporated Maricopa County. The state does not separate cases by incorporated and unincorporated areas.

State and county-wide numbers

While Arizona COVID-19 death rates have remained stagnant since late May, the rate of positive COVID-19 tests have increased from 5.2% on July 2 to 10.82% on July 21, which has more than doubled in 19 days, according to Mayo Clinic data.

According to ADHS data, Maricopa County has seen 573,082 total cases since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 5,412 cases since last Friday. 

Thirty-five people have died in that same period, bringing the total to 10,408 countywide COVID-19 fatalities since pandemic began, according to ADHS data.

Percent positivity is at 12%, which county health officials consider “substantial transmission.” Last Friday, percent positivity was at 9%.

Data collected between July 11 and July 17 show 114 positive cases per 100,000, a “high transmission” rate according to county health officials. Last week Friday, ADHS reported just 77 positive cases per 100,000.

Vaccinations

Each week, the county updates the number of residents vaccinated, and the percentage of residents vaccinated by ZIP code at maricopa.gov/5671/Public-Vaccine-Data.

In Litchfield Park, 61.7% of the eligible population have received their first dose and 56.4% have received their second or final dose, a greater proportion than Maricopa County residents overall. 16,316 residents of Litchfield Park are now vaccinated.

According ADHS, 3,924,330 vaccine doses had been administered to Maricopa County residents as of July 20.

About 49% or 1,983,407 doses, was the first dose of a two-series vaccine (Pfizer–BioNTech  and Moderna). 51%, or 1,907,829 doses was the second dose of a two-series vaccine, or a dose of a single-shot vaccine (Janssen). The status of 0.8%, or 33,094 administered doses, was unknown.
