It’s no secret that the Valley has gained a massive influx of new residents over the last several years, pushing up rents and home values in the process, and offering developers the opportunity to get to work to accommodate them.
Laurie and Chelsea McDonnell are about as close as two people can be. Not only are they mother and daughter, but they often finish each other’s sentences and, until just a few months ago, they lived a few blocks from one another. They also happen to own a business together.
The McCain Institute at Arizona State University and ASU President Michael M. Crow have announced that Evelyn Farkas has been named the institute’s new executive director. Farkas will begin her new position at the Washington, D.C.-based McCain Institute on May 2.
Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Ariz., who represents the Ninth Congressional District where Tempe is located, presented the city with a check for $500,000 on April 14 outside of the Roadway Inn, which Tempe purchased in 2021 to use as transitional housing.
