These are challenging times for everyone. It is no different for your Scottsdale firefighters.
On April 1 we were informed that pay raises for city employees will be suspended. Your Scottsdale firefighters want you to know that we stand behind the decision of Jim Thompson, our city manager.
This is the responsible thing to do, given our current situation. We have enormous faith in Jim, and our city leadership. We know that they will lead us through these tough times.
Our community is hurting, and it is everyone’s job to do there part to help. It is for this reason that we have made a $2,500 donation to Scottsdale Community Partners. This is the first of several contributions that the Firefighters Association will make to Scottsdale community based organizations, over the next few weeks.
We are challenging all members of the community to do what they can to help those in need. Scottsdale is home to many worthy organizations that do fantastic work on behalf of our most vulnerable. If you have the ability to help, please do so.
We would also ask that as much as it is safe and possible, you patronize our small businesses. Get a pizza delivered, grab some take out food, buy a gift card for future use.
These are the businesses that keep our fire trucks on the road, serving you.

Lastly, we ask you to be safe, and stay healthy. Take some time away from the television, get some fresh air, wash your hands, practice social distancing, and as always if you need your firefighters we are always here for you.
