Volunteers sought for annual Scottsdale Parada del Sol Parade festivities

Posted

Due to growth, the 67th Annual Scottsdale Parada del Sol Parade & Trail’s End Festival is in need for additional volunteers to help out with the yearly festivities.

The Parade & Trail’s End Festival Committee are planning 2020 Parada with a theme of Western Legends, according to a press release.

“What we need now is more volunteers to get involved in the Feb. 8, 2020 event,” said Parada President Wendy Springborn in a prepared statement.

“For 67 years the Scottsdale Parada del Sol volunteers have been coordinating the horse-drawn carriages, bands, wagons and stagecoaches, but due to the interest and growth, we need many more people or teams from companies to volunteer to help us get ready for 2020. Volunteers can donate some time in committees in the planning or assist the morning of the parade.

“Teams are needed to put up fencing and décor for the Trail’s End street festival around Old Town Scottsdale. There are various opportunities for volunteers outlined on our website and the time commitment can be for the day or more.”

Ms. Springborn says last year, the parade received many new entries pushing the two-hour parade to capacity.

“Because of the increase in entries, we will be accepting 2020 entry applications on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is critical to fill out your application soon,” she said.

The Parada Committee is accepting applications for bands, marching groups, cities/towns, mounted western groups, tribes, dancing groups, commercial floats, horse riders/horse groups, western type vehicles and vendors for the festival.

If you are a leader of a band, organization, mounted horse group, or troop of marchers and would like to participate in the Parada del Sol Parade or Trail’s End Festival, go to scottsdaleparade.com and download the application to get your entry in as soon as possible.

The fees are: marching bands-free, nonprofits-$75, pre-1950 tractors/cars-$100 and commercial floats are $500.
