From 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, St. Joseph the Worker will host its seventh annual Celebration of the Worker Breakfast event.

For over 30 years, SJW’s sole mission has reportedly been to assist economically deprived individuals become self-sufficient with the tools and support needed to secure quality employment.

Through the event, the community has the opportunity to support this mission and the job seekers who rely on SJW. In 2020, SJW provided services to over 5,000 individuals and connected 2,412 individuals with employment, according to a press release.

“St. Joseph the Worker is 100 percent privately funded, which means our success depends on the generous support from the community. By supporting this event, you’re empowering individuals who are experiencing hardship to find a reliable job, turn their lives around, and be something great,” said SJW Executive Director Brent Downs in the release, adding “the organization gives people a hand-up, not a hand-out.”

The event will be emceed by Jarrett Ransom, president/CEO of The Rayvan Group, and Rick DeBruhl, award-winning network television broadcaster and SJW board member. Also, an expert Q&A session with Chris Camacho, Greater Phoenix Economic Council president/CEO will be featured.

SJW will honor Bank of America Arizona President Benito Almanza and local partner Copper State Bolt and Nut Co., the release said, noting the time, talents and resources to further the SJW mission.

The organization connects people with jobs by partnering with local businesses needing a workforce, connecting clients to job openings for which they can be hired immediately.

The nonprofit’s model provides one-on-one support, interview clothing, transportation, resume assistance, interview help, and more, the release added.
