Finding the right education setting to begin a child’s formal education journey is a major decision for parents. That is why Scottsdale Unified School District opens the doors of its kindergarten classrooms each November, January and March to families of the next school year’s kindergarten students.

SUSD’s Kindergarten Roundups for the 2023-2024 school year will be underway starting Nov. 8 at the district’s 15 elementary schools and three K-8 schools.

“Scottsdale Unified’s kindergarten experience provides your child with the opportunity to start learning and practicing essential skills that will be used throughout their school years,” SUSD Elementary Education Interim Executive Director Margaret Serna said in a press release. “This foundational, early-learning experience helps our youngest students develop the confidence that will enable them to become curious, independent and collaborative learners.”

At each school’s roundup event, families will be able to meet kindergarten teachers, the principal and other school staff, visit kindergarten classrooms and tour the campus.

Children will be engaged in fun activities while their parents learn about the enrollment process, the daily kindergarten schedule, school lunches and playground safety, the release stated. Basic skills that typical, incoming kindergarteners should master by the first day of school will also be shared.

SUSD’s Kindergarten Roundups events are scheduled for Nov. 8 to Nov. 18. Find the complete rundown of events at www.susd.org/Page/470.

“A child’s kindergarten years are guaranteed to be full of fun and exciting learning experiences,” Serna said. “We encourage you to join the SUSD kindergarten family. You belong here!”
