On Sept. 28 at 6 p.m., the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers will feature Kris Tualla, a dynamic award-winning author of historical romance and suspense who created a 30-novel dynasty with “The Hansen Series.”

Scottsdale Society of Women Writers gives members access to events of interest, a format for exchanging ideas, an opportunity to network with other women writers and authors in camaraderie and support, and an alliance with professionals relating to writing, publishing and marketing, a press release explained.

A past member of Romance Writers of America, the Historical Novel Society and Sisters in Crime, Tualla was a guest instructor at the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at Arizona State University.

In 2019 Tualla was inducted into the Colorado Authors Hall of Fame for her “Camp Hale Series” and two of those WWII novels have been optioned for a screen project. For information about Tualla and her work, visit www.kristualla.com

At the meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 28, Tualla and the society’s members will explore different ways that books can be connected as a “series”, and how to decide if it’s a path they might like to pursue as an author, the release detailed.

Attendees should aim to be on time and check in to Zoom by 5:50 p.m. This allows the host time to set up and gives guests time to chat with members and guests. The meeting starts promptly at 6 p.m.

To RSVP for the monthly Zoom meeting, text Patricia Brooks at 480-250-5556 or email her at patricia@plbrooks.com to join the group.

If you have a guest, notify Brooks, the host, in advance and have them contact her directly. Guests may visit on two occasions, and then they are asked to join as full-time members.

Brooks pays the Zoom call monthly, so there is no charge for members or their guests to attend. The release suggests that attendees consider purchasing a book from the speaker or a member as a gesture of payment.

Dues for the society are $50 annually. New members will receive a copy of the directory and other benefits.
