Scottsdale man indicted in alleged kidnapping, burglary plot

Jay Borker, 65, of Scottsdale, allegedly wanted kidnappers to reportedly kill the ex-girlfriend's dog to "make her suffer."

Jay Borker, of Scottsdale, has been indicted and charged with conspiracy, money laundering, attempted kidnapping, and attempted second-degree burglary.
On Friday, Jan. 14, Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced the following details:
Borker, 65, is accused of hiring and paying two men $15,000 in August 2021, to wait for his ex-girlfriend to grab and tie her up; then take and kill her dog, according to the release.
The two hired men were actually undercover detectives with the Tempe Police Department, said the release, adding Borker allegedly indicated he “believed killing his ex-girlfriend’s dog would make her suffer.”
He was arrested and a $5,000,000 cash bond was set. Borker posted the cash bond and, according to the release. He is on electronic monitoring. An initial pre-trial conference is set for Jan. 20.
The Tempe Police Department investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Shawn Steinberg is prosecuting the case, noted the release.
The alleged defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, added the release.
